Events

High Watch holds a number of events throughout the year. Our largest event is the Annual Picnic. It’s a joyous late summer celebration drawing alumni, friends and family together from all over the world. Supper with the Sisters takes place in the fall at High Watch and features the endlessly-entertaining guest speakers, Sisters Maurice and Rose. In addition, High Watch presents the Sister Francis Award annually to pay tribute to those who have contributed greatly to helping vulnerable populations during their lifetime. In addition to these celebratory events, High Watch hosts a number of educational events throughout the year, including Big Book Retreats and Workshops.

More Information & To Register

Sister Maurice, in AA, and Sister Rose,  in Al Anon, return for the 9th Annual Supper with the Sisters. Our two favorite sisters return to regale you with their moving stories of recovery. Whether you are on the road to recovery, in recovery, or a friend or family member, their message for living resonates in a warm and clear, down to earth manner. They inspire all to discover their own specialness and give oneself a spiritual tune-up. This fun-filled evening with Sister Maurice and Sister Rose is always a sellout.

Sister Francis Award

2012 Date TBA

The Sister Francis Award recognizes courageous people who have contributed greatly to helping vulnerable populations in our society. The Sister Francis Award is named after High Watch benefactor, Etheldred Folsom. Etheldred Folsom was best known by her name of choice, Sister Francis. She was not a Sister of a religious order. A deeply spiritual woman, she modeled her life after St. Francis. She referred to all people as “brother” or “sister.” Her generosity provided a home to all in need of healing and spiritual sustenance. Because her own beliefs aligned with the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, she offered her farm, now known as High Watch Recovery Center, to Bill W. to carry out the work of AA. Today, AA’s widespread use of the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi is often attributed to Sister Francis, Etheldred Folsom.
