High Watch was founded in 1940 by Bill Wilson, the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Powerful Healing Program
A culture of compassionate care, dignity and respect.
High Watch Program
Our ability to deliver proven effective treatment for drug and alcohol abuse lies in what we call our unique High Watch Program. We integrate the latest breakthroughs in addiction medicine for treatment of both the neurobiology of addiction and any co-occurring disorders (such as depression, anxiety or bi-polar) into the time-tested spiritual teachings of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our residents and their families benefit from this powerful healing blend of customized individual treatment.
Personalized Recovery Plan
Every resident entering High Watch receives an individual bio-psycho-social evaluation. After undergoing a comprehensive evaluation, a state-of-the-art addiction recovery plan is developed with each of our residents. This plan includes an assigned therapist for weekly psychotherapy sessions; biologic interventions targeted to repair brain neural and neurotransmitter systems that are damaged by a wide variety of substances; treatment for diagnosed co-occurring mental health problems; intensive teaching of 12 Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous to support remission; living sober aftercare education and family education for sustained recovery.
Treatment Programs
Residential Acute Care
Our acute care program offers care for those over 18 years of age who have abstained from illicit drugs or alcohol for a minimum of 72 hours. The High Watch Program starts with a required 21 day length of stay. Evidence shows that length of stay will determine outcome. According to NIDA, the brain resets itself in 100 days. Therefore, we encourage our residents to stay with us longer. Many of our patients stay 100 days or longer.
Rest and Renewal
Our Rest and Renewal Program is a wonderful aftercare offering for those who have had a prior abstinence of 6 months or longer. Former High Watch Residents may apply after 30 days from their discharge date. The minimum length of stay is a 2 days. This program is perfect for those who are dealing with stressful situations or simply looking to renew their commitment to living a sober life.
A Typical Day at High Watch is Structured Yet Relaxing.
We realize that our residents are typically not in a state of mind well suited for a long day of endless meetings and lectures. We offer a powerful schedule events that are comfortably paced to allow residents adequate time for healing and reflection. Families are encouraged to come on weekends between 1:00 and 5:30 pm. All are welcome to attend our renowned Saturday evening dinners including an open AA meeting with special guest speakers.
